Transmission temp
Hello ladies and gentlemen, I was cruising around (Texas) with my AC off the other evening and my windows rolled down and I realized there is a noticeable amount of heat coming off of my transmission through the center column. This doesn't seem normal to me and I'm wondering if I should think about an after market transmission cooler. I don't run the car hard (70-75mph on the freeway). I plan to flush the trans fluid to see if that solves any issues and yes I am aware of the risks involved. Lastly, should I just get a trans temp gauge to see whats really going on with the temps?
There should be a rubber shield between the console and the floor. It has most likely crumbled out so the normal heat from the trans is rising up into the car. Makes sense, since you live in Texas.
