I have a problem with my car. It will not go pass 20 mph. I step on the gas and just stop at 20. I can't get it to go pass 3000 rpm. It just goes back down, I need help. What could be the problem?

 

Any CELs (Check Engine Light)?

 

No engine lights on. Just the trac light is on.

 

Is the engine response poor?

 

The engine is good. The engine wants to go but just stops at 20 mph. I get to 2500 rpm and it cuts gas power down 1000rpm. I think it is the throttle sensor or something else.

 

Has the ECU been serviced recently? It's a very common failure point on the SC as they get older, because the caps start to leak on the board. About 140 bucks to rebuild.

What has been replaced in effort to correct?

 

I bought a 92 SC400 with TRAC in 2001. During the winter my Check TRAC light came on. I took it to the local Lexus Dealer. All SC's with TRAC have a 2nd Throttle position sensor. They replaced the TPS and the Silver cylinder with the rubber hose underneath the Brake Booster area. Cost me about $1000. The TPS for TRAC is the first one on the inlet pipe.
I would check the TPS for TRAC first.
