Im looking for a new muffler for my 1996 sc400 and im thinking about getting a flowtech red hot glass pack. Can anyone recommend me a good aggressive sound? Also what size inlet size do i need? The stock pipes are 2.25" im pretty sure. Im new to cars and upgrades so please be nice Thankyou for your input everyone!!

 

Stock pipe size is 2.5. If you're looking specifically for a louder setup, you will need to do more than replace the mufflers. N1's are cheap and sound ok.

 

Yeah im deleting the resonators soon and seeing how that is

 

This. Just get any N1's and cut out the resonators and you'll have a killer exhaust note without looking obnoxious.

Yeah it can be pretty confusing. I think "real" N1 mufflers are made by apexi (I think?), but honestly the design is so simple that most knockoff N1 mufflers will sound near identical, if not a bit louder or quieter depending on small design variations. It's basically a very simple straight thru muffler packed with fiberglass. The ones I got were Spec D branded, but they'll all be pretty similar. Some will have a larger inner diameter, some won't so make sure to keep an eye out for that. The ones I have, have an ID of just under 2.5". Here are the ones I got, and as you can see, they're dirt cheap lol.

I can't quite remember what size my exhaust pipes were from the factory.. pretty sure they were 2.25in or something like that. I just had my catback cut off right before the Y pipe coming out of the center cat and had both the pipes on the Y pipe stepped up to 2.5in for the larger diameter inlets. The N1s were honestly originally just going to be a temporary thing and I was going to put borlas or magnaflows eventually, but I was so happy with them that I just stuck with them.

 

Okay I can just measure them when I take out the resonators. I really appreciate your help

You honestly can't go wrong with most exhausts on a 1uz, I've never actually seen a bad combination because the 1uz manages to make anything sound good.
