1993 SC400
The trunk opens completely by itself. Sometimes it happens 10 times a day, overnight, parked at the store, or while driving. Just walking by, I hear 1-3 clicks of the trunk opening all by itself, or while driving, the trunk decides that in the middle of an intersection, it will pop open. never seen this problem in any other SC before...I have a suspicion that the trunk switch is trippy...any ideas? There is an aftermarket alarm, and remote but it is usually out of range when the trunk has been opened.
Thanks!

Until you figure it out, perhaps you should disconnect the power to the lock and open it with the key.

Locked trunk, still pops open randomly. probably a failing switch, Buying new one, will post results.
New switch is the answer. Hasn't opened by itself ever since!
Really weird, it opened itself even when I disconnected power to the switch...

I had this happen on the '95 300 I had. We would go to a nice dinner and boom, pull up to the valet and the trunk opens. It was very embarrassing as I couldn't figure it out. Took the whole mechanism apart and found out that the spring that holds tension on the lock was missing. It had snapped off and fell down under the trunk lining. Put it back on and no problems.
