Default anybody running straight pipe ?

i was wondering if straight pipe would actually help my setup or if running an exhaust would be better?

straight pipe as in no cats or straight pipe as in no mufflers?
I just got both of my cats removed today and added some headers to my sc300 and it sounds awesome. i'm running stock y pipe, resonators, and cheap ebay headers that the previous owner installed. tomorrow i'm having the muffler shop weld on a new y pipe, new magnaflow mufflers and tips. 2.5 inches all the way to rear. right now it sounds loud as hell but deep and throaty. I kinda feel like it sounds like a v8. I cant wait to hear what it sounds like with the magnaflows. i'll post a vid later.

I did it for fun.... this should give you an idea.....it is WAY to loud and is really annoying after a few minutes of driving

I have 2JZGTE with BW366 and 3" Straight piped..i.e no cat, muffler, resonator, etc....this was before I installed the muffler...it is still to loud for me with only the muffler..I will be adding a resonator

CatMan did you re-title to classic plates? If not how are you passing emissions with that set up?

It'd be nice to have a switch out setup to where you could run a full flow straight pipe at the track but a silent setup on the street. A simple v-band clamp and have both systems made would be easy. Or run a quiet setup and then mount a exhaust cutout on the midpipe.

Thats not my current setup that was just for fun to see how it sounded.....Here is how it is now with the muffler added

I am in the process of registering my SC as a classic car..so that way I can be emissions exempt...it is parked for winter now so I will deal with it once winter breaks...

But I have been driving it around since I got the swap finished without it being inspected or emissions...

obx headers, allflow catalytic converters (look them up, theyre perfect), stock resonators and cheap ebay mufflers.
edit: still going to the muffler shop to finish the last part of my exhaust. remove resonators and install magnaflow mufflers plus tips.

CatMan: sounds sweet with muff, Don't get caught driving it, Pitt cops are a PITA as I'm sure you know. I'm probably going classic with mine so i can gut the exhaust & put a system on that will let her breathe. Used to run straight pipes on my Javelin & it was quieter than when I had the cherry bombs on it.
