my automatic 1j right out of a soarer wont go down to first gear!!! i didnt cut and extend the wires to the ecu so we can eliminate that possibility, do i need to ground something or is it just bad ecu, bad shift solenoid regular typa thing? but when i put the car in drive it starts off in second gear then shifts to third as apposed to starting off in first... if i put it in first gear it will go down to first though...thoughts??? while people are still allowed to have them

 

If the tranny goes into first gear when you put the shifter down into 1, then it's not a bad solenoid. It certainly could be a bad ecu. How does the car run other than that? Idle good?

 

Yeah, it idles fine.. Needs an O2 sensor but it idles steady..
