Default wings/pedestals/risers

Good morning to all. Can someone explain ro me what "risers" are used for. Im looking to purchase some tall pedestals. I see a lot of 10" and 10.5" pedestals. I wanted to know if "risers" are used to make them taller. Origin makes 14 " pedestals which would be fine but Origin has poor shipping/customer service, meaning, people have made purchases but the order didn't ship for 8 months or so. To avoid this, I wanted to know if I could use "risers" to achieve the hight I want. Your insight is appreciated.

Do you have the wing already? I purchased my wing from ebay for $459 shipped. It came with pretty large pedestals. Keep in mind if you're going for a wing that big you need to support the wing to the chassis someway or the trunk is going to flex and negate any downforce. I have a mini roll cage for lack of better words welded into my trunk. I'm probably going to make custom pedestals.

I haven't purchased the wing yet. I wanted to clarify a couple of things first, lol. 1) what r the "risers" for? R they needed to add height? Definitely would rather try connecting to chassis, im already replacing a bent lid. Did u build the mini roll cage urself?

The wings usually come with the pedestal, I don't see any need for risers. I did everything on the car including the roll cage and wing bracing. I don't have any pictures, but it looks kind of like this.

So the cage gives support to the lid so it doesn't flex/warp, in turn negating downforce. I like that setup. Earlier u spoke of connecting to the chassis, how is that done? Im in the process of rebuilding my car. Idid a2jzgte swap back in july.i just had my fenders rolled and pulled 2" in the rear. My setup is 295x35x20r,245x30x20f. Im doing a candy paint, should be done in 2 wks. BTW, thanks for the insight.

I'm running 18X11 and 315's front and rear. If you look closely at the picture above, the wing cage, is welded on to the rear sub-frame rails. The farther back you mount the wing support the more downforce will be transferred to the rear wheels. That's why a lot of times you see race cars with wings coming out of the rear bumper.

With a big wing and high speed, very high amounts of downforce can be produced. They start producing small amounts of downforce at 40mph. On some sweepers I'm well over 100mph, which is where the wing really helps. My lowest straight speed is 130mph at MSR Houston, and at TWS with the current setup the car is at 160mph+++. The faster cars are reaching 180mph, and some are producing 400lbs+++ of rear downforce at that speed.

I can attest that our trunks don't need reinforcement.

I got my wing from Origin.
