Default Dynamat Extreme vs Original

Hi all,

I just got a Dynamat trunk kit! It includes some Dynamat original for the floor, and Extreme for the trunk lid and sides. The Extreme is significantly lighter than the original, the original is HEAVY!

Should I go with Extreme all around? I am hesitant to add so much weight to my car! Also, I got my car doors Dynamat'ed with Original's, should I replace these with Extremes? Are the Extremes really better? It would seem the Dynamant Originals would be better as they are MUCH heavier.

If the Extreme's are better, I plan on buying a 36 sq. ft. roll from eBay for $100. Thanks!

Tony,

You can try PM retrodrive, his friend sells something similar to Dynamat extreme but at a much lower cost.

Go Extreme, or one of the other recommended equivalents - Raammat, CAE, etc. Dynamat Orig is unnecessarily heavy, smells like a hot roof. I put it on my trunk lid, and if the damn thing ever falls on me while I'm nosing around in the trunk, I'm sure to need a back operation and screws in some vertibrae....
