Default Cheap Wheel Upgrade

So my SC is gone, but I have been reminiscing about her and realized I never posted about my wheel upgrade. I stuck with an OEM look for as long as possible since I had such a low mileage SC but I always hated the stock 5 spoke wheels. After HID, LED and OLT Climate/Radio lighting upgrades I was pretty impressed how relatively modern my SC looked despite being 15 yrs old.

Like many of you, I looked at newer OEM Lexus wheels as an upgrade. IS wheels were tempting but I never liked them enough to pay what ppl were asking. One lucky day on craigslist I found a guy selling factory 17" wheels from an 06 GS300 for quite cheap. I had not seen these on an SC before but the price was so good I bought them anyway. I think they are a nice subtle upgrade (sticking with my theme for the car) and after I sold my SC wheels I actually ended up coming out ahead - Can't beat that! Now if only she were lowered

I've taken a very similar approach with my car and went with GS wheels, as well. Lexus may have dropped the ball in a few notable areas (gauge needles, HVAC LCD, window trim, door panels, tilt wheel worm gear, etc.), but they nailed it in the looks department and it's worth sticking as close to that as possible.

Those wheels aren't my top choice, but they're not bad. I think the gap is just fine, though. Personally, the slammed cars look weird to me, with much less gap above the wheel than in front or behind it.

I think they look good. Nice and simple. The chome IS350, chrome 2004+ LS430 and polished Supra TT wheels were my favorite but they cost way too much now.

TT wheels have my vote for form and function but those IS wheels do look very nice. Will they clear LS400/TT brakes?

Hard to find good condition TT wheels, and even harder to find them for cheap. I've been looking forever.

I found my set of TT painted/gray rims for $450 in decent condition four years ago. Some guy had them on his MKIII. Two of them had to be trued and I still need to have the lips restored but that will come when I'm ready for a new paint job. Functionally they are excellent wheels if you can grab a set. They look factory on SC's. I think they're worth sending to a wheel shop for repair or cosmetic fixes if necessary. Of course, yeah, finding a set that hasn't been abused is always the best scenario. I guess I feel the way I do because I really didn't want any other rims for my car.

I just sold my TT's for $500. Only reason I did was because I want to do the C6 caliper upgrade and the 17" TT's wouldnt fit when I put them on during the winter season.
Now I'm looking for a set of ISX50 wheels. But those are expensive as well, so I might just get a cheap set of Varrstoen's or something to run during the winter.

But those aren't bad, I think they only suit the 97+ body style though.

It would be nice to have the width of the TT wheels, but I never liked the look of them. Still screams 90s to me which is exactly what I was trying to get away from. These wheels were actually an upgrade in width - a whole .5" lol.
I know there are better functional options and better looking options, but at a net profit of $100 and an upgrade in tread life, I was pretty damn happy. I had never seen these on an SC before so I figured I would share.
