I've located a shop in NY that can help build my 96 SC4. I'm swapping my 1uz for a 2jzgte. My target is 500+ hp. The swap is 10,000 so far. Is that a good price?
I would send the car to someone who has done the swap tons of times...
any place can do an engine swap, however some places take short cuts or don't know what they are doing and the swap becomes totally useless... it never runs right, horrible idle, stuff like that (that's assuming they even get it to run)
A spot called RPM, located by the elmont/queens borderline. They do Dyno and everything performance. They were working on 4-5 different cars when I arrived.
Seems like a lot. What is exactly included in that $10K price?
I honestly don't know. I was referred to them by a trusted friend that has beefed up quite a few nice cars. I brought my car in and explained that I wanted no less than 500hp. I'm a personal trainer, I know nothing about engines but I'm going to learn as I go. But I will post parts n pics as I build. I'm redoing everything from the ground up.

why not save like 5 grand and send it to one of the best shops in the country?

Money is not the issue, I'm racked up over here. I've been searching around. Spending the most doesn't always guarantee the best either. These days no one comes out n says that they don't know how to do the job, everyone sells themselves as proficient.

I know clint and ross baird personally, I've worked with them, and the original owner of PHR is a friend of mine. They will be doing my GTE swap when I get around to it eventually because they're one of the most experienced and have the highest quality supra work IMO. They are in dallas, tx.
You really can't go wrong with PHR, I think they recently completed a motor build on a blue widebody SC on here. Great shop and great people, can't speak highly enough of em.
Thanks for your input, it helps. Some think I'm crazy and say just buy a new car, truth is, I don't want a new car, I love my SC. Of course I will have a 2nd car for winter. Thanks again.
