Default curious and need help

well i have numerous questions i wanna ask

1. everytime i drive and hit a bump or dip... even some tiny ones, i hear a clunking type sound. my dad thinks it's the bushings but i wanna know if that is the only possible thing. could it be anything else that would make that sound?

2. I had my suspension changed to tokico's struts and dad bought the stock springs from the dealership before i could get the eibach so i'm riding on stock springs, the ride is real real stiff and i pretty much feel every bump in the road... what i noticed when i was driving wit a big load (natural way to lower car) the car drove a lot better and wasn't as stiff... cornering was better and everything... so i'm asking is the stiffness due to the fact that the springs aren't reallie designed for the tokicos?

3. i accidentally broke the white **** for the headlight adjustment, is there a way to replace without having to replace the whole headlight assembly?

4. just out of curiosity, was wondering what would it take to get the 95 sc4 to 0-60 in under 6 seconds... i got an injen intake with heat shield, greddy mx exhaust, iridium plugs.

thanx a lot

#1. Clunking could be alot of things. Spring seats, blown struts, bushings, sway bar end links, steering knuckle, sub frame cushions, or even the steering bush. Best way to find it is to check for wear and tear. Spring seat is easy. See if the spring is in its seat. Blown strut = oil down the struts, bushing are difficult because you have to pull the arms, end links are simple, steering knuckle = lift car and turn side to side looking for slop or play, sub frame cushions will only wear bad if your car was in a wreck, and the steering bush will allow you to nudge the column side to side.

#2. Tokicos + stock springs should not be a problem. You may have installed the springs wrong, or got the wrong set from the dealer?

#3. Probably not, you could shim it and then glue it down

#4. Put the stock air box back on, stock plugs back in, and run some nitrous, get a TC and lighter wheels.

Default advice?

hey... i got some more questions that need to be answered and chances are pcmw is gonna answer them in which case i'd like to thank you.... if only one day i could pick your brain....

1. Has anyone ever tried replacing their steering wheel with the newer one (the three armed one)?

2. What is the best alarm system I can get for the SC (no limit on cost)?

3. What is the smallest rim size i need for the AP brake upgrade?

4. Is the autocouture kit the side skirts, front and back bumper? or is it just the bottom pieces that are put on the 97+ conversion?

5. my 95sc4 has the amber background for the dash and i liked the white light they had earlier and was wondering can i just swap the lighting from like an earlier model that had the white background?

thanx again (pcmw )

Ans. to first general question. PM! if you click pm under pcmw it will lead you to a private message that you can send to the man (or whatever he is )

1. yes, the steering wheel has been converted to a trd 3-spoke model by SC300T. A GS steering wheel conversion was in the making a few months ago but there was some worry that in some worst-case scenario the air bag might not deploy (and a good enough reason to drop the idea)... mainly because the gs steering wheel was made for a gs, not an sc, though every connector may be the same, why take a chance with your life over something like that.? If you are talking about the new sc430 steering wheel being put into an older model sc, no, no one I know of, or have read about has done this. Might be worth looking into.

2. Many people in the forum tend to go with Viper and DEI Alarm systems, you can do a quick search to find topics such as this:

3. I believe the upgrade you are talking about is similar to the Brembo/Wilwood brake upgrade and that would be 17x8 (All depends though, there have been mixed results) You can always ASK the company.

From my understanding, yes, you have to have the 97+ kit on your car first in order to put on the autocouture kit.

5. Hmm......The whiter colored dash is from the newer models, not the older. I have a '92 with amber. Umm Im sure the color can be converted if you have the time and patience. I mean, if this can be done...

The autocouture kit is a full front and rear bumper replacement so you dont have to have the 97+ conversion 1st. You can just pop it on a 92 and it would look the same as a 97 would.
