I recently purchased a 1995 SC300. The owner's manual on page 11 describes use of a wireless remote key as though all these cars came standard with this feature; there is no mention of "optional" or "if equipped." However, the previous owner, who was the car's second owner, did not have a wireless key. Question for the Experts: Does my car probably have the wireless system built in, so that all I would need to do is get a new key from a Lexus dealer? Or were only some of these cars equipped with wireless? Thanks! Jim in Seattle

 

I'm pretty sure it came on all SC's. The functionality is controlled by the door lock ecu, which is located under the dash just above the brake pedal. It's a black box with orange plugs. You'll have to program a new key if you go that route.

 

Or youcan buy a remote start\lock system. Thats what I did

Thanks for that idea. I'm not sure I want it that badly. If I can get the capability just by buying a new Lexus key, I might do that, depending on the cost. I'll give the dealer a call.
