Bought these brushed metal Lexus plates from a newer 2005+ Lexus of an auction site for $20. Going to grind a little and glue them to my SC sill. Just wanted to share what I think is a nice and inexpensive mod for anyone, especially those going for VIP.
$20 is an awesome price. I don't mean to thread jack but there are other variation such as this illuminated door sills that are available as an option from Lexus. And I much prefer it over the standard set if I was doing this mod. (They cost around $300 at the dealer, however.)
looks nice, I'll have to do that at one point once everything else is done.
@uras, yea i would def prefer the illuminated once as well but not for that extreme price. $300 is ridiculously over priced for a piece of aluminum with some LED's. At least in my opinion
I was thinking about making something like this with the lazer engraver we have at my shop but I'm digging the illuminated one too! Maybe I'll get the "LEXUS" part made in photo-etch and put a strip of EL behind it!
Not to thread jack but just wanted to show pictures of this already done on my SC just to give others an idea of what it looks like. Excellent idea by the way. Did you know that our SC is one of the only Lexus to not have the door sill plate compared to the rest of the lineup?
Pretty weird considering this was one of the most expensive cars at the time but of well. By the way these are from a 2nd gen GS. Just grinded the back down and used 3M tape to keep them in place.
Illuminated door sills will be next for me whenever I have spare cash around...haha.

That looks awesome! And very clean too if I must say

Thank you for the kind words Slaker I definitely love the way they turned out in the end. My whole goal with this SC is to be as clean as possible and make it seem as if Lexus offered the car with these options from the factory.

Haha....thank you for the compliment Murco Believe me the illuminated door sills are a very distant thought in my list of upcoming mods for my ride I agree they look as if they have always been there on the car, which is exactly the look I was going for.
