how much does he want for it? anything under 2g's is worth it. If I was in your position and had the extra money i'd get it. I'm assuming the motor still runs. the wheels, 97+ aero, vvti engine, auto tranny, and the fact it's an orig RSP are all worth more than what he probably wants for it. if the wreck wasnt reported and has a clean title even better.

the kicker i'm seeing is that drivers front suspension.
if the mounting points for the control arms and everything isn't smashed and repairable you're good to go, just get the parts from a parts car or forum members.
get all the dents out (or just get a door and passenger fender). get a quart of RSP, and clear. and a HVLP gun(harbor freight central pneumatics are decent and only ~$15) and you're set. I'd have that thing on the road in a few days if I had the parts.

edit: I just looked at the pics again, is it a hardtop? hard to tell cant see if it has sunroof.

$2800 is insane, let me tell you guys,at least in my area, no one really wants to buy these cars and they are getting much lower in value.

There is still a bit of a cult following of people that love these cars, but your average person wont even look twice at one.

Old, v8's and out of date in most areas, I think this is a very good thing for us though.

there was a 97sc400 here with 160 000miles, I got him down to $1200, and then I walked away, its still for sale as far as I know, it had no issues and ran fine.

2800 is a joke, 200 more and you can get a decent running un-wrecked car. he could fix it up and make more money if he wants to be such a douche on price. what an idiot. really disappointing.

i assumed 97 300's had vvti, all the 97 400's i've seen do. thanks for clearing that up.

Close, 98 was the first year for vvti on the sc300 but it only has a 4 speed auto. the only SC to have the 5-speed auto is the sc400 vvti 1uz-fe.

Yeah that's way too much rare or not its damaged goods with fairly high mileage. Shame it will probably end up sitting for many years until the owner gets sick of looking at it. Then they will end up sending it to salvage.
