Default Sc400 swap from ls400

Hey guys so I got a question, I bought a 1992 sc400 not running and a perfectly running 1995 ls400 which I plan on being the donor car,
My question is, is it possible to swap the whole engine and trans in from the ls (gated shifter) or should I just mate the motor to the trans already in the sc4. If so is there wiring needed to be done etc. thanks!

im pretty sure those cars have different trans, if that is true it will be too much to modify for it to be worth it, especially when you can get a new sc motor for about $500. do you know whats wrong with the current motor in the sc?

Shifter has nothing to do with it. Output shaft might. Why would you buy both cars if you're not sure what you're getting into? If you have the time and patience it should be easy, but I bet you could have (and in hindsight, would've) bought a running 400 if that's what your heart really desires.

just curious where you could get a new motor for 500 are you referring to ebay?

what im afraid of is the generation difference 95 vs the 92 and i have debated over the 1j swap if i can budget it under 5 grand i might just go with that option

i wish i did buy a running sc400 , but i couldnt pass up the deal lol
basically i got an sc400 w/ vertex kit, tein coilovers , work vsxx wheels, etc etc and an ls400 all stock running great for 4500
if the swap between the obd2 to obd1 is going to be too intensive i might just sell the ls for profit and source out another 1uz or budget a 1j swap

well because the 1uz is such a great motor, not many people bought them used, causing prices to depreciate. ebay is a little expensive, call a few junkyards and you might find one with under 100k.

It's not a drop in affair...

EGr setup on the LS and SC4 are different.

Exhaust manifold are not interchangeable...

Oil pan are different..

Oil pump are different.

LS uses clutch fan..

SC4 used hydrolic cooling fan..

I did that from going out of an SC to the LS4 and what a pita.

I guess everything depends on how much you can sell the other car for and what you want to put into the sc.

From the sound of things it looks like the swap is not worth it.

oil filter housing is different also. It can be done if you pull both motors out and swap everything over to the LS motor that is different. It will take some time but it is doable.
