My 1995 SC300's lights dim/flicker, audio turns off, and dash dims for about a second. I'm thinking it's a bad ground? I've heard other toyota/lexus' have this issue but has anyones car done exactly the same thing and did you find the culprit?
Im have the same problem. Most of it happen when i would brake or use my signals. Tried finding out what was causing it but then it just stopped. but every few weeks it would come back for a day or two then everything would be fine. still not sure whats causing it. and from what ive read here, a lot of people do have the same problem as us. But i havent found a solution that helped me out yet.
good luck
Start simple, check and double check all your grounds. Make sure they have clean paint/junk free contact. Next step, check for loose connections under the hood, behind the dash, and at the fuse boxes. Add a few extra ground points between battery/engine, engine/body, battery/body, nothing wrong with extra grounds and well worth the $20-25 anyway.
Have your alternator tested, lots of auto parts stores will provide this service for free. Check your alternator cable and positive terminal, and assure that battery posts and terminals are clean. A little Coca-Cola classic and a terminal cleaner or wire brush go a long way.
^^Everything above should cost no more than $35 including the Coke, and you get a cold drink while you work. Best place to start
