Default e85 conversion questions

my goal 500whp

Fuel Delivery Hose Sizes
Gasoline Powered Engines
Up to 499 HP .344” hose -6AN
500 - 799 HP .437” hose -8 AN
900 – 1100 HP .562” hose -10 AN

Methanol Engines
Up to 499 HP .437” hose -8 AN
500 - 799 HP .562” hose -10 AN
900 – 1100 HP .687” hose -12 AN

so this means i will need 10 an feed and 8an return, and the 400lph says

"Item Description
Walbro E85 COMPATIBLE 400LPH In-Tank Fuel Pump INCLUDING Universal Install Kit. This pump can support 600 horsepower at the crank on E85!"

so that means one pump is good for me then. just curious about my fpr. the regulator has 6an fittings so how does that work? just adapt it to fit or is this a restriction?

dont complicate things .. for 500 rwhp no need for the above .. just one walbro 400lph , one -6an feed and return ..-10 is total overkill and can yield a potentiel pressure issue .. i use twin walbros and at 600 rwhp have plenty of fuel.. i aslo have 1150 cc inj for better injector duty cycle .. id suggest some id1000 or fic 1100 injectors

Just saw your sig. I believe using that thick of a head gasket makes for some pretty low compression. I'd either go back to a stock headgasket or use a Supra TT headgasket. Higher compression is nicely suited for E85

I wouldn't go any larger than a 1.3. I'm going to keep stock compression and have a super quick spooling setup

when you asked me you never mentioned running e-85. If you are running e-85 all the time, then you might as well use a stock ge headgasket and get your compression back up to 10:1 and enjoy the extra power. If you plan on running pump gas sometimes, then go with the tt headgsaket.

Default TT gasket

I appreciate all the help on having the right setup. I’m just concerned that the TT gasket would be unsafe and I realize that this is the reason why we have forums to educate others, but the theory that has been beating into my head is that anything over 8.5:1CR is not ideal for forced induction. Compression, timing, boost are the things 3 that I have been told you can only have 2 of.

So I’m sorry to keep nagging everyone from professional tuners, fourms, and parts manufactures. Just trying to get an overall collection of what I need to know. I really do appreaciate the help. I have been using the search, and this is my first turbo car so its a steep learing curve from reading theory in some 1980s library books to having the real deal.

So I just have to learn on my own if 2jzge stock block and head with a 2jzgte head gasket will make 500-600whp as a daily driver on 93 octane with a 6262 .84 t4 divided manifold and housing. And not break things.

Idea is that when AEM releases the update for flex fuel that I will then pursue e85 tune for daily since I won’t have to worry about the alcohol content when switching fuels and draining the tank.

Also the turbocharger PTE 6262 .84 divided should spool quickly for pump gas and even better on e85. And ill forget the QSV since this should be a properly sided turbo for the application.

Thank you all for the input. Just trying to have the right setup.

8.5:1 cr is old history. You can run quite a bit now days with the advancements of standalone computer. Having a good tune is the key to all of this stuff not breaking. So please spend the money on a tuner that has been proven to know what he or she is doing. No point in having a good setup and its tune like crap.

Jwin is right you can run more compression these days that used to be possible. TT headgasket is good for pump or E85 but I don't want to throw off the quench of the combustion chamber running a thicker gasket and I don't mind running E85 all the time. I'm looking into the 6266 which replaced the 6265 BTW

Default na-t 101 remedial lesson...for the slow learners

So 500whp on 93 pump is fine with TT HG on good tune.
glad thats established in my mind now, forgetting the 8.5:1 turbo theory.

so how about a 6262 .84 t4 divided making 500whp 93octane on the na-t, is that pushing the limits? what do you think it could do on e85?

Really depends what fuel you have around you all the time. Pretty much anything t4 frame turbo could put you into the 500hp. You gotta figure all the other issues with making big power before you just concentrate on big power. Drivetrain upgrades. Tranny. Putting the power to the ground.

500whp is normal for that setup, I wouldn't say pushing it. starts to get a bit more interesting around the 6+ mark, but with the added compression you will hit your powerband earlier so that 500whp will feel better than with your 2.4mm headgasket. and we are talking about WHP here.

on e-85 it could do much more like 7-800+ and then you can start to break other things from the torque (not the headgasket), you may need a larger turbo to get there, and a much larger fuel system.

you can also make 500hp on your current setup, just get a bigger turbo and/or turn up the boost.
looking at your list, what you really need is a coil on plug setup.
shooting for 500+ hp with a single coil is not optimal, cause you are squeezing one side for more potential power (larger turbo or more boost), but you are wasting a percentage of that potential power with a weak spark on the ignition side. I would get coils first and then look for more power after that, cause you will pick up power with just the better spark and the engine will run better and smoother.

Started a thread regarding this build. I appreciate the knowledge greatly! Lq9 coils have arrived. So next is the turbo and HG and 2 rear tires. Went to an autocross event. I need to upgrade the suspension and brakes too during this build
