Default is250 (2007) fuel pump question

Just replaced the internal filter in the in-tank (low pressure) fuel pump assy. Re-assembling it, I see that the return line has a barbed fitting on the underside of the assy top piece. I can't see that it actually had a hose connected to it, and it doesn't seem that it would be required. Anybody help me out? Have I lost a hose someplace?
Thanks

Nah, that's how it is. You're fine.

Just replaced my filter a few hours ago - that's how it is! Also, looks like you tried to disconnect that hose that goes into the top part?
