Default coolant reservoir

I need to replace the cap, which has the wires attached, that closes the coolant reservoir. Does anyone know if that part is replaceable, without replacing the tank, and if it is what is the price and part number?

Default That's the coolant level sensor....

Well, it is definitely removable, so it should be replaceable. I've removed mine several times, in a vain attempt to stop a small leak (quite a few posts mention this problem, so we're not alone).

If you pop off the black rubber cover (glued to the coolant level sensor with some real sticky rubber cement), you can grab the sensor with pliers and unscrew it off. There's an o-ring in there to seal off the coolant tank, but even replacing the o-ring ($3.80 at the dealer's) didn't help my leak.

Does anyone know what else I should try to stop this annoying leak?

I had the same prob, my car overheated and the reservoir cracked. I ignored it and the car's temp began to rise again after about a week because air was getting in through the pin whole in the tank. Rather than playing around with it, I bought a new tank, and kept the sensor which is the more expensive of the two, the tank was $60-80 i think.. something around there, and no probs sense, that would be my advice.

Well my tank is not leaking, but the screw in cap, with the wires attached, spit in half, the top part. The part that screws into the tank is alright, but there is only half of the top part to unscrew.

Default your coolant reservior tank

ok im ordering that part right now...from parts.com...the switch is 55.11, the cap is 11.30, and the tank is 114.01. ..so its about 180.42 for them all....now lexus created this part because is was a common failure..so this piece is a replacement tank for the old tank. which would have cost me a total of 209.00 part + labor from the dealer...but it would be the exact same part as before.

I went back to parts.com, used collision instead of mechanical, and the coolant reservoir showed up. I ordered the cap, hope it is the right one, there were no wires coming out of the diagram. Thanks
