Now, I love the SC but I figured it would never be considered a classic. Well for the first time, I read a 70s collectable book. They had a small article on the SC 300/400 saying that is will be a classic to my surprise, especially the manual SC 3. Whoa!
i think it wouldve been more popular with the 1jz in the states. but sadly i dont think it will be a real classic like lets say, Z's, Vette's, and so on.
it could be, lets hope that im wrong

The car is plenty popular but only about 100,000 combined were made of the SC3/400s. This means that even if all the SCs still were being driven today only one person in 3000 could have one in the US.

Well the car continues to be a better car than most on the road even today and it is no longer made. It's design is timeless and it still looks modern. If I were to purchase a car today and I looked at all the cars under $100k I would still pick the SC300/400.

I still see planty of them on the streets lol at least in southern california, I guess it depends on how long it is going to take to become a classic, when that time comes, probably very few of us would still have one...

A good indicator of a classic is that it was a groundbreaking design. The design dates back to 1990 (when the 91 Soarer started production) and we have seen several imitators since. The basic SC lines have been copied numerous times since (Mercedes, Chrysler, etc.) I believe the basic shape was almost as groundbreaking ( and imitated) as the Audi TT was.
IMO, definitely destined to be a classic, but it may take awhile, they were built so well that many of them are still on the road even with 100k++ housewife miles, but it was ground breaking when it debuted, and still turns heads to this day, if they still made it i'd buy a new one in a heartbeat.
