Thoughts on this SC400?
Pay more for a better car the less you'll have to put into it. There may be other comparable cars with the same miles going for less, but they may need more work, but as stated before it al depends on the car and like I said the market by me has higher prices then most other places due to the fact there just aren't many in my area
No not true at all. I will say dont matter how many miles. Those bushings and rubber parts are now more prone to cracking and wear. Still has just as much underbody corrosion and rust from being in jersey. My cousin lives in bound brook and he was looking at one with like 50K more miles for half that price. I'm telling you wait man you can do much much better.

Everyone brought out some good points about this car. Too me, even with low mileage and a Northern car, I would be afraid of the rust, even with the undercoating. I hate rust, just once it starts, it just keeps on growing. If it is clean underneath and has some real documentation, I would offer around 4500 or so. This is including tax, tag, title, etc.
I hunted around for an SC that lived its life in the south (south carolina). It was well worth it, as the underside looks great, no rust at all.
To me, it was worth the wait, and shipping the car too!

Now that everyone has brought up points such as bushings, tires, and possible rust from being up north, I'd say pass.
You could get a nicer car from the classifieds section here on Club Lexus or you could just wait. My SC had low miles on it and it's been a hassle to have. I've had to replace bushings, various bulbs, and do the 90k service. It can get expensive to own a lower mileage SC.

I really wouldn't go for a car that old especially at that price, if anything I don't think anybody should go for an SC unless its a 98+ (That's if you're looking for a decent car to drive). On the other hand if this isn't gonna be your daily and you don't mind spending every dime you have to make it nice then go ahead.
haha and I thought throwing it out to you guys would make things easier on me! Wrong lolol. I'm in a tough spot because my current daily is a POS and it freaks me out to drive it any distance really. But I also do not want to settle for something thats only going to be a money pit. All things concidered, I think I'm going to put my top dollar for this car at $4500. That will probably give me a %12 success rate of him accepting my offer, but it is what it is lol. Someone sell me their clean SC!
