Some cool statistics about our cars
Did you know that you are more likely to see a Bugatti Veyron than a 97 5 speed Sc300?
Did you know that you are more than 2 times more likely to see a Lamborghini Gallarado than a SC300 Manual of any year
-You are 87 times more likely to see a Lamborghini Gallarado than a 97 5spd Sc300
There are more Lexus LFA's produced than there were 2000 model Sc400's
There was only 1 Sc made for every 3,803 Americans
In 1992, you could have bought a new Silverado, A new mustang GT, A new Honda Civic, and still have enough to buy 412 gallons of gas for the price of a new Sc400

I work downtown Wilmington, DE. I have Audi next door, Lexus, Cadillac, Acura, Land Rover, Maseratti, etc across the street. The Audi dealer is the "premier" dealer in the area so they always have lambos, ferraris, etc. One of the sales guys owns the bentley, the owner owns the marcelago, and a dozen or so R8's. It is nice eye candy (especially that Fisker Karma ont he corner), but it gets old after a while

In Chicago I see a few of them all the time, but across the state and pretty much outside major cities these things are rare. I will regret selling mine but I got bills to pay and other projects, but truth be told I would almost keep my SC300 over 1JZ S14 240SX. Its a much more "refined" platform. I just hate the cost of some parts . Still though at 226,xxx miles this thing is a beast. I recently whacked an RX-8 off a light and im automatic stock as hell except for an air filter.

This guy...
I notice most of this is about the rarity of the SC series, and truly, that is the case.
Just looking over the production numbers from "Lexus" by Brian Long, cumulative exports from 1991 to 2000 totaled around 85,000, of which I believe 45,000 would have been SC300s and the remaining 40,000 would have been SC400s. We have to factor at least 20% of these cars are now gone, so even fewer survive.
By comparison, Toyota built over 230,000 Landcruisers in 1998 ALONE, and they usually produce almost half a million corollas every year, the SC300/400 is in fact, a VERY rare vehicle that is NOT well known to the public.
