Default new stereo problem

Just turned on my Nakamichi radio in my 95 SC400 that has always worked perfect and it started a steady thumping in ths speakers. It does it as soon as you turn it on on radio or cd. any ideas? thanks John

Yup! Your stock amp is definitely blown. I had the stock Pioneer tape player deck in my 94 SC300 and when my stock amp blew, it made that same thumping noise whenever I turned the key and the radio got power. Let me guess, no sound out of the speakers when you try to play music either? If so, then yup, you're gonna need a replacement stock amp (located in trunk under the carpet) OR do what I did and COMPLETELY rip apart the car from top to bottom and wire in a 5-channel amp and put in all new speakers and RCA/power/ground/remote wires to get not only a more better sounding system, but a more reliable system. It took me forever to completely redo the entire audio system bypassing every piece of stock wiring. Good luck.

Stock amp is most likely on its way out. Its normal. Car is old. Get a used one off eBay or in the classifieds. That's the cheapest/quickest option.

yeah its the stock amp, same thing happened to me. You can however just buy a cheap amp and hook it up to replace it. You have to hard wire it though and will need an amp hookup kit

It may not be the amp, does your car have the stock speakers? If yes, I would bet its the speakers that have blown. Do a test take down the lining in the trunk, locate the speaker connection and use a small/cheap working speaker to the terminals. I had the same problem with my system and the rear blown speakers caused my front to stop functioning. I'll get/add the links for the DIY steps when I locate them in another thread.

Sir, if it is coming thru all speakers it could only be one of Two things the head unit or the amp. From what your saying it is pointing to something in the amp. Could be a cap starting to go or mosfet in the power supply on its way out. If it was just one of the speakers I might be more incline to say it is the speaker and that is still just a maybe with a thumping sound.

Amp sir.

I would check/test the speakers first, before spending money on an amp that may not be the problem.
The following Club Lexus Sc vendors might have one (amp) in stock?
