Isn't it bad to have a 10" tall fmic on the SC?
the front bumper opening is only like >6"
so the rest of the fmic is gonna be covered up,
doesn't that negate the cooling effects of the exposed part of the fmic?

In other words, take an IC core and weld a cone (pyramid) over the entire face. Cut off the tip off at the point that would yield a window equal to a quarter of the pyramid base (or IC facial area). At speed, this creates a high pressure area before the IC and no place for the air to go due to the cone. It is forced to go thru the core while in a completely open IC setup, the air takes the easiest route which is AROUND the core. This is bad.
Believe it or not, this is the best way to go. However it is hardly ever done right or at all.
So YES, it's actually good to have a smaller section of the IC face being fed air as long as there is proper ducting to force that air thru the core.
Take the SC radiator for example. Only a small portion actually gets fed air at the bottom, yet the radiator facial area is HUGE. Notice the curved ducting Toyota put in there? It goes from the bottom of the bumper to the top of the radiator. The radiator face is working and dissipating heat even tho it's fed a small portion of air at the bottom.
