Default Turning Indicator Problem

I've been trying to get my turning indicator on the drivers side headlight out but I couldnt get it out. The car was in an accident a while ago and they replaced the headlight with a 97+ housing I believe because it looks a bit different but ever since I got it back I couldnt get the turning signal out. I turned it up first and tried to pull it out but it doesnt come out. I forced it down and it wont come out by turning it down either. Am i doing something wrong? What way are you supposed to turn it to get it out? I've took it out a few other times but it was before I got the work down on the car. I think they put an extra peice of metal that blocks the thing from coming out. Anyways if someone could tell me which way to turn it I'll try it again and see why it wont come out. Thanx

Left? Its pointed to the left right now so I can only push it down or pull it up. I'll try to wiggle it more and see if I can get it out but its really in there and it looks like a piece of metal is in the way.
