Question Automatic tranny from IS300 into SC300???

Has anyone ever swapped the 5 speed auto from the 1st gen IS300 into a SC300? They're pretty cheap on Ebay and would be newer than the 4 speeds floating around. Seeing as they bolt up to a 2J motor I would think fitment at the bell housing should work. I guess the challenge would be drive shaft and transmission control unit wiring.

Just a 2JZGE driver with no turbo plans. Transmission shop wants $1500 to rebuild my old tranny. IS300 tranny is like $500. Could someone at least give me a possible, yes or no. I'm not looking at the extra gear as an upgrade; just trying to save some coin if possible.

electronics of both transmissions are different, as well as all the connectors that plug into them. You'll spend almost $1500 in just getting everything to function properly with an IS trans, so just bite the bullet and have yours rebuilt.

it could work but its not going to be cheaper really. tran control is in the ecu itself, so you need an IS ecu, and most of the harnesses from that car. the IS ecu is a completely different setup vvti, is not a cable driven throttle body, has coilpacks, and many other little issues.

why not just get a replacement instead of having it rebuilt. a replacement sc auto trans should be less than 500, and they usually don't fail at stock levels with proper maintenance.

How hard would it be to make it work in a 99 VVTi SC ? It would be cool to have those E-Shift features in the SC.

Yeah, my SC is a 95 so the electronics part would be totally off. Ali SC3 a replacement for less than $500? If you could PM me a link that would be great. YeA 2jZ with the 99 being VVTi you might be on to something.

Great news! My tranny leak turned out to be a power steering fluid leak. I should've bought a floor jack and jack stands years ago. I wonder how many lies I've paid for in the past.
