Default Bad tranny mounts?

Hi guys again

When I was trying to see if the tranny mounts looked bad, I got a jack and jacked the tranny up W/ the pan and it lifted up.
When I dropped the jack, the tranny would clunk when it went into place.
Is the tranny even supposed to move like that?
I'm wondering if that could be the mounts
Thanks

It's a 1992 Lexus SC400

Nother quick question...
What do the stock trannys look like.
are they turquoise? Mine is turquoise...

no shouldnt move. you should be able to see the mount bushing seperate when you jacked up the tranny.

sounds like your tranny has been rebuilt if it's a different color

So if it's not supposed to move, then that means something is busted.
Ya?

As the other guy said, you need a new tranny mount. Stock tranny is just unpainted alloy, yours was rebuilt if it was painted.

Replaced Tranny mount (rear motor mount) and it did not fix the problem. The old one was toast anyway, so it wasn't a waste of time. It still surges, but now not only right under 40MPH, but also 10-20 MPH
Please help!

When I replaced my tranny mount it got rid of a ton of vibrations and noise. Even seemed like my engine ran smoother afterwards. Engine mounts next for me..

Would you mind me asking where did you order the mounts for that price? so reasonable!! Also if there is a bucking/surging change your engine mounts as indicated, i heard it makes a world of difference i will be doing mine soon, just looking after maintainence with the car! (y)

Got it from "Auto parts Warehouse" on the internet.
Just search "1992 Lexus SC400 tranny mounts" than go to shopping and you will see they have there's at 40 somethin dollars, plus shipping is 53.45.
It was the cheapest I could find.

Any SC400 around 100k miles, just replace the tranny mount. It's cheap and makes a huge difference.

I dont know if you remember me, but I told you how I was having similiar problems with my sc4. I ended up turning the tps to one side and the shifting got worse, then the opposite.and.shifting and bucking is better! I dont remember which way I turned it but just mess with it at different settings til you find the sweet spot.
