Default From Audi to Lexus SC

So it's been about 8-9 months that I've been on the search for an SC400. I previously had a 1998 Audi A4 1.8T Manual. The maintenance was nonstop and the fun just dimmed away. So I did some research and fell in love with the SC400. I was then determined to find one, that I could trade straight across. The first one was local, a 1991, had 215k miles, all maintenance records and was pristine. But i just couldn't do it. Several months later, I found another. Which was a complete rip. rolled miles, ripped seats, the works. Then... I found another months months later after I had given up. It was owned by 2 woman and was gorgeous. Premium sound, black, tint, perfect leather.. And I got it. This was a couple weeks ago and I love it! It's so much more comfortable and well built. It kills the Audi in performance. PLUS, I've read it can take a beating, unlike the Audi where there's always a price to play. My only stress is what to do with the exhaust!

Welcome aboard!

I too came from the VW/Audi/MB/BMW world, having owned many, many, VW/Audi products. While it's true that Toyota/Lexus is much more reliable, you will notice there are similarities in maintenance. The SC is probably more like a VW golf, where it will probably never leave you stranded but you will need to fix "little things." Definitely a much more reliable vehicle than a A4 in terms of electronics and drivetrain, LOL!

Oh yeah man! There's just so much less "little things" to break on the sc too! It's just such an incredible car and is so beyond its time.

Unless your going to do headers, the exhaust is pretty well open. You can put on magna flow S.S. mufflers for better sound and looks, but no more perf.

I too quit can't from the Audi world to Lexus. I previously owned an Audi 200 and the fun was dimmed away from me too because of maintanance. the sc300s and 400s are much more reliable. iirc the 1uz can take quite the beating too!

I also owned a record holding Audi s6 turbo quattro and the Lexus is leaps and bounds more car than the Audi could ever be, I think about how much money I tossed at the Audi and it just makes me sick to know I could have built a 9 second Lexus for the money I dumped to get my s6 in the 12's.
The ONLY thing better about the Audi was the leather seats.

Hmmmm I wouldn't say th leather seats was the ONLY thing better.....it definetly had a lot more features than the Lexus. my 200 had more technology to it than my sc and my Audi was an 1989. The sc300s are pretty bare minimum with features on the interior. at least the 93s are....

I guess I ended up with a bottom line A4 then.. Because the Lexus has a ton more features! Electric seats, leather, heated seats, premium sound. The Audi had nothing close. It was manual, turbo and Quattro. That's it.
