Default Debating on selling my sc...

Well I have decided to continue college and go for my four year degree.

I will be driving 2 hours a day there and back to school. The Sc v8 will not work with this.

So I think I should sell.

By the following description can you guys give me a guess on asking price. I paid $3860 and dropped around $200 in repairs in so, Im about $4050 into it. I want 4k about the lowest out of it.

97 Sc400, 175k. Black Auto

Bad:
Drivers seat is ripped.
Cruise control and heated seats don't work.
Trans pan has a small leak. Needs replaced. I tightend a bolt to tight.
Some damage *repaired* but has cracked paint in rear quarter panel. Not to bad.
Small dent on passenger side. Barely noticible.
Engine light comes and goes for a cat code.
Passenger door don't open outside.
Driver window does not go down.

I think thats about it.

Good:
Car was painted 2 years ago, looks nice.
Runs very well, never had issue.
Shifts just fine.
Rides very smooth
No clunks or rattles.
Recent timing belt and etc.
Trans flush and filter.
New wheel bearings
New transmission mount.
No rust. *midwest car* this is important.
$600 viper alarm system not including install price.
Key fob start, unlock lock etc.
Nice brand new subs, amp, deck. Est value at $600-800.
Comes with a nice set of black rims valued at $400-600.00 bad tires.
Full tint.

So give me your thoughts. I have pictures of damage and what it looks like in other threads, Not going to repost.

Thanks.

In for the pics, you might get 4k out of it if the buyer does not notice all the damages.

I touched up all of the paint, you can hardly tell. Honestly it took me a good month to notice everything. But yeh if you go hardcore over it, you will notice. But blue book is 5300 in its condition so I figure 4k is a very decent price. I am worried about a lack of market for this car... Might be hard to find a buyer.

The alternative is let my gf drive it for now. Me buy a peice of junk little 4 banger. Which is ok in my book to...

Unless you spend less money than you made on the sale of the SC for a gas sipper, the money you spend buying another car could easily go towards gas money/repair for your SC.

That is a good point and true. All the major and most minor maintence on this car has been done and is very well taken care of. I believe I may just keep it, let my gf use it for her work on the weekends, and I drive it during the week. Then use a different car for school on the weekends.

I would hate to part with it.

Then don't. Trading down for an eco-box is stupid unless you are in absolute dire straits. Don't change cars, change your driving habits, and drive less when you don't have to.

Yea I will keep it, thanks for showing me the way, O and watching a documentry on this car made me change my mind to...
Plus going back to a hyundai accent will make me feel like a woman.

I am now hungary and going to drive my SC in search of food.

If this is a car you really wanted then keep it...sell the system because you can always get another one. That damage is minor but that's my opinion. If I were you I'd keep it

Yeh I've decided to keep it. Not selling system, I just need to manage my money better and etc. I can make it work. But yeh this is my favorite car of all time. I would like to keep it till she falls apart.

G4, I think you've made a good choice in keeping it. Obviously, you've got access to another car so getting to school won't be too difficult.

Since you found something that you like, you'll probably come off better in the end anyway. As much as I like shopping for cars (and I actually do), replacing a DD is a pain in my ***. You very rarely come out ahead, and you're trading a devil you know for an unknown quantity. Plus, it won't be your baby and you'll know it.

The other guys are right- sell the system. You can always replace it later or find something in the meantime, but at least you get to enjoy your toy in the meantime. And from what you've described, I bet she still gets your heart pumping everytime you walk outside.
