Please help on pricing this SC300
I went and saw the car today. It was ok, I give it a 7 out of 10. He said he would work with me on the price. Below are some stuff that I noticed about the car. Based on the new info, how much would you priced this car at? I'm planning on using it as a daily beater. The grill also was broken and needed to be replaced.
1st, It was hit lightly in the front, the frame looks straight but the core support was unpainted / black. Is that the way it came from Lexus? It also needed a new passage headlight.
2nd the driver seat (where your butt goes) needs to be recovered with new leather.
3rd, rear bumper needs a new coat of glossy and the gas cap cover won't close/lock all the way.
4th, it actually has 144k on it, not 120k, it was a typo.
5th, it sounds a little loud, well louder than my 93 NA Supra. He said maybe because the SC had dual exhust or VVTI.
Thanks again CL.

As everyone else has said, the chief issue is to find out why it has the rebuilt title. But it looks completely clean, and I'm loving that price.
Another good resource to check out is the Lexus owners site. If you create an account and plug in the VIN for the SC, it should give you all the official dealer servicing done to it over the years. That way you can see how it was treated before it was rebuilt and see if it truly is a gem in the rough, or one to kick to the curb.

I found out the car has been worked on by Lexus dealer from 1/27/1998 to 09/03/2008.
Car has two owners. Car was hit on 03/16/2011 and totaled by the insurance company.
On 02/10/2012, a rebuilt title was issued.
first of all run the vin # through with the lex dealer or check with carfax .. other then that , thats a very nice look .. she looks real clean playboy ... oh yea , money is power . just show him the money on what you wanna spend .. believe me i know ...
If he is willing to work with you on the price like you said then its a very good deal. Its a 98 and looks to be in pretty good condition, its not going to be perfect. The car is old, 98 isn't new lol. I wouldn't worry about the rebuilt title if the car was fixed correctly. Some people seem way to worried about what the title says. A front end fender bender will total out any year SC, look up the cost of parts. I guarantee that most of the people on here would still want to keep their SC after a fender bender. Good luck with the purchase.
I'm not worried about the price or the fact that it was totalled, guys. What worries me is that it was an airbag deployment and that the rebuilt title wasn't reissued for at least a year. Now I've had project cars before, but almost a year? We don't know where it was, how it was treated, etc.
Also, another concern are the discrepancies you've noted- especially the mileage. I'd have the thing checked out by a Lex mechanic (preferably an SC specialist, if possible) and RUN, don't walk if the guy balks. Trust me, I bought an SC that I thought was a great deal and took an absolute bath on it.
Also, it looks like a dealership. Is it one of those buy here, pay here places? Never really had good luck with those. If you really wanted it, I don't think I'd give him a penny over three thousand. You really don't know what you're getting into with this, unless you have that mechanic examine it as closely as possible.
If it were me, I'd walk. I hate to rain on your parade (and welcome the smacks from the CL community) but I don't want to see you get hosed. I just don't have a good feeling about this one.

My 93 Supra was a salvage car, the front core support was crushed but it now has 290k on it. I'm looking to retired it now, so thats why I am looking into an SC.
I ran an auto check, it said last reported mileage was 123k in 2010. So another 20k until 2012 adds up.
When I sat inside of the car the airbags look normal. No airbag light came on or anything.
My question is what should I offer for the car?

FWIW
I bought my 98 with more miles lowered, rims, and exhaust for way less than that price and it's an original title.
Was never in a accident. The advantage is that it's white, 97 and up, and it has the things most SC owners upgrade eventually bumpers/sideskirts, tailights, and the gated shifter.
The price is slightly expensive but definitely work him down to under $ 3K.
This car will move regardless of title issue.

I'm getting a check from the insurance company for $2,500 so thats about the most I can spend on a new daily beater, maybe a few hundred more but not much. If he doesn't take it than I'll just start searching for old Camrys and Celicas. Thanks for all the help guys.
^Whats that?
I kinda only want to offer $2000. NADA puts it at $3,800 in average condition with a clean title. So doesn't having a salvage automatically cut the price in half?

That's a horrible quote. From experience and from an sc owner, I'd buy a 95 sc with higher mileage for $3800. I'd value a clean title 98 sc300, in white, for about $6.5-$7k. That's what you'd REALISTICALLY find one for. I'd work him down to around $3k and then go for it. It's clean.
Regardless of Salvage Title or not. This is somebody's white unicorn and someone will ****** it up
$3,800 sounds high, but if i was a kid out of highschool, i'd be all over this!
I'd settle on $3,200 out the door. Your going to have front the cost for a new tag too
In Fla, that's another $ 400 regardless of what car you buy
