Default Coilover springrate upgrade

Right now my car has Supra spec Yellow Speed Racing coilovers on it.

I was wondering has anyone upgraded there coilover springs by more than 2kg? My spring rate is 18kg front and 8kg rear, I wanted to go either to 10kg or 12kg in the rear.

Is going up by 4kg to much? I know the usual is 2kg+/-.

Not familiar with those dampers. Are they rebuildable?

Otherwise stick to a springrate within 15% of what they were valved for. A 2kg/mm increase should be tolerable but can't say for certain. Most of the well built shocks can handle it well but some of the china/taiwan knockoffs will go from bad to terrible with a larger springrate. Call them up. Any reputable company can give you that answer without hesitation on the spot.

I'm curious to hear what people have to say about this as well. I'm running 14/10, and i want to buy 18kg for the front and swap the 14kg to the rear.

I already emailed them, still no reply.

What coils do you have? and did it come with those rates or did you upgrade them? I'm talking about going with some stiffer springs.

If it comes down to it, I'm going to just try it out. Since stance 12k coilover springs are only ~$40 a pair.

AnonymousG-
i upgraded my fronts with some eibach ones (got them from KARTEK, an offroad place) ran me about 60? a spring. I know it's more than stance, but they are eibach. You have to remember most coil overs have metric springs and eibach are standard. It's about a 1mm difference, and you might get some popping when reversing/ going forward as the springs shift a bit. i think mine are 950# springs (90# to sag 1"). I transferred my front springs to the rear, so the rears are the stock coilover springs @ 14k. My coil-overs are circuit sports.
As far as rebuilding, FEAL suspension is in america and can rebuild just about any coilovers except some TANABE ones. My friends were leaking, called FEAL and they were not rebuildable, then called tanabe, and they said they weren't either and they tried to sell him a new set. his others had 30k miles on them and one was blown. My CS have about that many and see the track.

You need to measure the springs and then you can order an aftermarket spring, if you went up 2k you should be ok, but I am not familiar with the yellow speed stuff, it seems new and doesn't have much support.

We could get you some Swift springs as an upgrade, they are fantastic springs. Shoot us a PM and I can help if you want.
