the only other leaks i can think of that could cause alt. failure is a water pump leaking onto it or the valve cover gaskets. Either that or crappy alternators. Got any pics?

sure the distributor o-ring has been replaced, but is it still leaking?

if you're sure it's not the distributor, i'd do with plan B: valve cover gaskets.

Dealing with the same issue my self. I've been researching about an internal seal on other cars dizzy.

Just to help everyone else out, there's a seal at the bottom where the shaft goes through (by the helical gear). You'll see it when you look, mine had apparently shrunken enough to let oil by.
