How is this even remotely debatable? LMAO! Another SC fanboi thread.
How are some of you even thinking that 'your selling price' is directly dependant on the MARKET VALUE of your SC? Read an economics book.
As MANY posted already [but raging-hard on's chose to ignore], the concept of supply and demand is always and will be in full effect in the capitalist world, so why would cars, aka another commodity differ?
Figures are mentioned earlier;
#of sc's sold in the us: 82,538
#of supras sold in the us: 11,239 na&turbo
DUH! I wonder which car will sell for less?!
FnF has nothing to do with it, i was still in H.S. when the series came out - i knew and loved the Supra prior to the movie. It added some 'want' to the Supra - more than it had initially, but do you honestly expect a kid in high school without a job was about to buy one? Do you think the late 20's guy is going to take out a loan for a Supra [fresh out of college with debt/whatever]... NO!
So stop trying to justify your clouded - and fairy tale like explanations for the values.
The SC is common as dirt, when compared to the Supra - even in Canada, there are more landed 'other JDM vehicles' including the Soarer than plated and driving Supra's [from personal observation]
I've owned both, loved the Lexus, will perhaps get another to be my beater. The supra however reminds me of a unicorn. You hear about sighting of one every so often, and on occasion you catch a glimpse of one in the wild. I see about one supra a year, and when I take my car out, the attention it gets is rather stunning. Some of these strong offset SC's with pulled fenders, and silly camber make me very happy though that they aren't supra owners. I cant imagine having to sacrifice the performance, and ability, and the body of a car just to go down the street.
With that said, the Lexus is a great car, great chassis, both cars with suspension work handle very very well. Both can be made very fast, the cost of entry is greater in the supra due to supply and demand, however once you get done swapping over a full 6 speed drivetrain etc, it is sometimes easier just to get the supra. I owned both for a reason, and I will probably own both again for a reason.

NSX vs Genesis is hilarious. NSX was ahead of it's time but as time goes by other cars will catch up eventually. Still I rather have the NSX than any Hyundai....to each their own. R8 beat LFA in a straight line along with plenty of other cars but I still would rather have a LFA.
Even after getting beat by a Hyundai or whatever, i'd still have a **** eating grin on my face.
I'm not really sure how 0-60 in a tick over 5 seconds is slower than aids. Yes, it's not that fast by today's standards but remember, this is the car that made Ferrari go back to the drawing board and is no doubt worth the 25k+ price tags they command.
Also, arguing that a certain amount of HP isn't "squat" (which was not accurate anyway) clearly shows the kind of "enthusiast" you may be.

So what you saying is a lot of People have 25 to 30 grand cash money laying around? Because cash is about the only way you are buying one. There's a big difference between getting a loan for a 30k car and actually paying for one cash
When Fast and Furious came out you could've easily financed pretty much any year Supra because they were still pretty new at the time. Notice in my post that you quoted I said "when F&F came out..." I din't say in 2012 LOL.
i have bought 3 sc's 2 sc300 and 1 sc400 all for under 1500. the interiors were messed up and 1 300 had engine issues. I think if there was a larger group of people taking care of sc's and making specific parts to help that we could bring the value back up. lol especially guage needles.
Because of "The Fast and the Furious". Crazysc300 is rite..... my dad went to buy me one back in 2000 it was $8000 for a 93/94 na ..so it was costly after the movie

We have gauge needles taken care of through LexTech. It's interior cosmetic parts that are a bit ridiculous if you want to put the car back into showroom condition-- over $500 for new OEM upper door trim pieces that crack due to their poor design. Same for the plastic vents and dashes. SC's aren't the only classic cars to have interior flaws but they are also one of many, many classics that do not have the reproduction aftermarket support of places like National Parts Depot (for classic Mustangs and other pony cars).
I wouldn't be surprised if Supras have the same problem with cosmetic parts availability despite the interiors lasting longer.

I hear you, I always liked the NSX they are rare enough for me to rock one, who cares about HP. True enthusiasts know and respect the NSX regardless.
They're "$20-25k fine", not "$40k+ fine", and that was the gist of my now-deleted post. Like I said before as well, the original Vipers aren't worth the money they're selling for today either. It's like somebody stopped the clock in 1997 and car values from that era froze -- unless you count the SC, which dropped like a brick. A 1st gen DSM commands more money than a clean SC! No $40k new car is worth $40k two decades later, I don't care now nice it was -- Supra, NSX, Viper, or anything else.
