Using an inflation calculator from the US bureau of labor, that equates to $57,400 ('97 TT) to $79,500 ('95 TT) in 2012

What does 57K to 80K buy you these days? IS-F, GT-R (used) we'll see how the value of those holds up

Anyways, I was finally able to google it. MSRP for a supra ranged from ~$40K ('97 TT) to $52.5K ('95 TT) according to this: http://mkiv.com/specifications/sticker/retail_sales.htm

Contrary to popular belief, the 97 and 97 models received cheaper offerings like the interior- leather quality for instance, and those headlights were actually cheaper to manufacture. Little cost cutting items plus the fact that it was a slow seller, drastically reduced the Supra's price

I picked up all 3 of my MKIV TT's for under $22k. 1st was a 94TT 6spd. w/ 28k miles for $21,500 from a 58 yr. old woman, 2nd was a 95TT Auto w/ 57k miles for $18k and 3rd was a 94TT Auto w/ 63k miles for $18,500 that was already single, fuel, fmic, and electronics. Buddy of mine went to jail and needed to pay for his lawyer. Anyhow, my 94 6spd. had a sticker price of $49,875.00. I 've been told by many Supra gurus that Toyota was actually using much better parts on the earlier MKIV's, hence, the higher prices.
Is there any truth to it? I really don't know. I do know, that I miss my 6spd. but, I made a very nice profit on it.

Supra's are worth more due to the rarity. Like someone said earlier, in the states they have "unicorn" status.
I spent 5-months in Sydney and I saw a Supra nearly every day. Nobody gave them a second look, and talking with enthusiasts, nobody thought they were particularly special. Not surprisingly I found that I could buy a low KM '00 JDM TT 6-spd for ~$16K AUD. A similar KM early Honda S2000 was nearly 30K, because they're comparatively rare as hell.
Simple psychology - people will pay to be unique.
