Default Anybody try using different oem auto ****?

My 98 auto shift **** is in bad shape, cracked leather and wood and it bugs the hell outta me. The Stealership wants over $350 for a new one, no way thats gonna happen. So I see a lot of good condition ***** on ebay and the LS ones look real nice. I cant find any of the screw thread info on these ***** online. Anybody out there have a another lexus shift **** on their sc? Will one from a GS or LS work? Can anybody chime in on this?

You have a few options:

- get it retrimmed
- buy one second hand from a wreckers
- modify a non-lexus shifter.

I bought one of these and modified it to suit. This unit only has one button on the top for use when shifting the 'ect-power' function has to be moved to the shifter bezel. This requires you to be reasonably 'handy' with a Dremel, but it can be done - I did it! :

you could get the real deal:

Yes, other models' ***** will work. I can't be specific on years because I am not too sure myself but if you stick to the 98-05 year range from the SC, LS, ,RX, and GS (i think ES too) you should be fine. I use a GS400 one myself.

Anyone with the gated shifter is lucky enough that you can use any of the newer Toyota/Lexus ***** out there. It's those of us with the giant, um, "appendage" that have fewer options!

Me too! It drives me crazy. It blocks the screen on my headunit.

It does? What I hate about mine is the bushings are already worn out(besides the fact that the leather is completely gone), so it feels so loose and the damn thing vibrates on low rpm.

I had to do some heavy mods and cutting stuff out, lost the o/d button but it looks plenty better then the dildomatic.. I just bought a polished aluminum "universal" auto shift **** and wrapped it in some faux carbon. Looks pretty sweet
