key price
So I went to the Lexus dealership today to get an replacement key. The one that has the side button next to the key, I have a 95 sc300. The cost is almost $300 dollar because they have to replace the whole key and not the case and program it. I bought a key on ebay just the one with out the program to get it cut they did that for free. Question is did anyone pay that or found another way around that, like buy the separate key program that they have on ebay and go get it program. Even miss with the one that they broken and fix it. My broken key is only broken were the case is at so I had to tape around sometime.
As for my JDM Soarer the key and the door lock controller are 2 different pieces, Lexus told me 110 bucks for each key I want, and a local locksmith made me 3 for 60$. with illco jobber key. I don't mind not having the toyota sign on my key!

I alright everyone I got a key made already I just want to know have anyone bought a remote from off ebay and got it program to factory alarm, that's what really want to know. thanks
Look into your manual what's your keys HCC(?) number. If it matches the one from eBay then it would work. Just try searching how to program it. I've done all this already so I know it's possible. But unfortunately my year model came out with kind of keys, 2 different HCC numbers. And unfortunately my kind of keys are hard to F-ing find. So, I'm just gonna suck it up and buy a new one from Sewell Lexus when I have extra dough. Nothing can go wrong with that route.
I have been told by 3 different locksmiths that the replacement non-OEM remotes for my 1995 are no longer available.
At this point I have found no option other than the Lexus dealer who quoted $287. My local Toyota dealerships are not able to provide the remotes. I have also been told that the key computer is only good for a total of 4 key programings, and they can't tell how many it has programed until they try to reprogram a key. The Lexus dealership says they will replace the key computer once for the cost of having 2 remotes programed and cut. Which was quoted around $580. If it's already been replaced, they quoted a replacement cost of $1200 with one remote key!
Once a key has been programed there is apparently no way to reprogram it. So don't buy any used keys off of Ebay for more money than you would care to throw out your window driving down the road. This certainly makes any car that is ready for parting out worth a bit more if it has 2 remotes that work.

Lexus of Blowmaha only charged me like $190 for the key itself, which come on, its not like the carry blanks with the button for a nearly 20 year old car around anymore. Programming is easy, just have to figure out which set of procedures you need to do.
