Default Parking light replacement

I've read on this board that the parking lights are pretty much useless, but mine are both out and I'd like to replace them. I've done a search on this board and everyone seems to think they're a pain in the a$$ to change, but nobody has posted How to change them. When I went to change them it seems like there is only a wire or tube like thing back there. I didn't want to just yank on the thing and break something. I know how to change the High/low beams, just need some help with the parking lights on a 1992 SC400. Thanks in advance J.Green

Its pretty easy if u got skinyn hands. Just reach inside under the hood part and feel around. You should be able to feel a thing you can turn. If you look at the light from the outside just picture a long tube like thing going thru the headlight and just twist it and pull it out. It doesnt take much force for anything so dont think you have to yank anything or pull anything hard. Dont pull any wire or anything. Putting them in are harder than taking them out. Just mess around a little bit and you'll get it. Not much to it.

I had to shift the battery a little bit in order for me to reach into the other one, which means u gotta unscrew the thingy thats holding the battery down.

I put in a blue bulb, and the plastic turned BROWN.

Geesh.

Anyone know wat wattage i gotta use for the little wedge bulb?

Well for once it pays to be 5 '7, and thin! I got my little hands in there turned those little buggers out and in 5 minutes I had them both changed... bluish white light now colors the front... looks sweeter... now if they were only stronger than 5 watts.. hmmmmm

 thats amazing, i had to take out my battery completely to get to my driver's side parking light.

yes its a 5 watt, 168 type bulb. its really only there for looks i guess, considering the output is only about 125 lumens of light; by comparison, the 9006 lowbeam right next to it produces about 1000 lumens. to take out the parking bulb theres a plastic thing that looks like 2 small plastic tubes that are joined at the side. itll have two wires coming out the back of it. twist it counter-clockwise and pull it out - be careful, its about 6 inches long. to remove the bulb, just tug on it and itll come out.

are you talking about the city/parking lights? actually i was going to buy piaa "super white" wedge bulbs for that.

as for my low-beams, im still in the middle of going from 06 silverstars to 05's.

H3 fogs are now pilot hyper whites. i have yet to install them mainly because its too cold outside (no garage) and am having to wait on my cousin to get back in town to use his garage.

sounds sad doesnt it? heh.

yeah, we're getting about 1 - 1 1/2 ft of snow here. Make sure to post a pic when you're done with all the changes..

they are call city lights, because in japan, the city is so bright they just use city lights to drive around.
good thing they didnt take this option out when it made it to US shores.
anyways...
why are you guys running the 9006 bulbs?
the silverstars are 19.99 a piece at autozone, or 40 bucks a pair.
anyways, i did the 9005 convertion on my headlights..
its way better..
9006: Lumens: 1000, Watts: Max 70
9005: Lumens: 1700, Watts: Max 80
