Hey guys,

my SC300 hasnt been official driven for almost 4 years and has been sitting in the driveway the whole time. I was only able to start it a few times throughout the years and let it run but able to drive it around. Yesterday when I was replacing the oil, I noticed that it was a coffee color. I heard that this is a symptom for a blown headgasket but I wanted to get some advice from you guys to see if maybe it could be just old oil sitting for too long. I went ahead and did the oil change but I wanted to see if anyone could chime in and let me know if it may be something normal or less expensive to fix. Before the car sat for 4 years it was driving perfectly fine, I just didnt have time to work on it and get the parts ready for it until now.. if the headgasket is required to be replaced, can anyone tell me the average price I should be looking at? does the car overheat when you let it idle for a while ???

 

And how does the radiator cap, coolant look?

 

The car does not overheat when idling for a while. i tested it last night for about 10 minutes but ill do it again tonight.

Radiator cap looks fine and the coolant looks green as always. lol

 

Yeah turn the air on while your at it. . And watch it. :good luck

Turned on the car for a good 20 minutes with the AC on full blast. The AC wasn't so strong but probably needs freon. The temp never passed the midpoint and the car idle was very stable and quiet after it warmed up. Any thoughts on this?

 

If the car has been sitting for four years it is going to have water vapor in the crank case change the oil after letting it run for about 20 minutes and keep an eye on the temp.
