So, trying to diagnose my noise issue (sounds like a rattle going down the road, with speed increasing) I took the entire front right side apart.
With everything broke down to just the hub, no rotor, caliper, etc. I could spin and hear a very faint noise at a certain position on every rotation but only if I speed it up turning wise, low turning speeds it didn't happen.
There is ZERO play at all in the front right with me yanking on at the proper positions but this noise is driving me insane.
Any ideas or suggestions towards this? I'm guessing the bearings are trashed or on the way out, but it's weird that there is no play and the noise is very quiet. I thought maybe the hub might have an issue but I'm not as experienced in this section of the car as others.
That's what I was going for, just seemed weird that it's only at one particular spot of the rotation and no play but if I caught it early (I'm a stickler for noises, I don't believe in the it's just that way theory).
Well, I know the one at the junk yard was good as I played with it the other day while I was there so I'm just going to put it on and have the other one made like new, knuckle and all.
The bearings? I don't know about reusing old bearings, but buying a new one, I used Timken last time, and just pressing it in is gonna be the best way to do it. It's pretty easy after you get the hub off of your car.
sup friend Check it out, entire wheel hubs are only going for $60 dollars! I'm going to replace mine next weekend as well. I gotta run something else by you by PM.
The bearing and hub are separate. The hub is where your studs press into.
I've got an entire knuckle with everything still sealed for $30 at the local pick a part that I'll swap in temporarily and then have my old one rebuilt and reconditioned.
I own a business in IT that requires me to be mobile so I can't pull it and bring it in and wait and go back. Needs to be a at Night operation so having a spare will come in handy.
