Default Frozen Bolt Issue

Hello all.

I feel I've come to an end with a bolt. I'm trying to get the rear seat "panic handle" off, and these two bolts are stubborn. I've tried it with a regular Phillips head, and then moved up to an impact drill, and still no luck. Now the heads are almost completely stripped. Can anyone perhaps lead me to the next logical step? The heads not COMPLETELY stripped, but the regular Phillips heads aren't doing any good in it anymore. Thanks for any insight!

Get a bigger phillips. IIRC I used a #5 or #6 sized phillips to get them loose...they were still a pita, but it was much easier than using a standard #3 phillips.

The #4 I tried to step up to was still to big. It also had a flatter head on it (less of a point). I've never noticed in other tips before. Maybe I can try to find another #4 with more of a tip. The metal just seems so pliable on those bolts. I guess that's what happens when something hasn't been loosened in 19 years.

Huh, not too sure what else to suggest. The screw driver I used is huge, but the screws were still tough to get out.

I'm afraid I might have to tap them out, but haven't done that before

holy **** handles are #3 phillips!! if you didnt strip the head of the screw u can still get it with the number three, otherwise you will have to get the drill out and drill the head off it. hope that helps

I've used the #3 from the getgo. Even with the impact drill they still didn't budge.

there is a product out there that increases grip 800x i dont know the name off the top of my head but i believe you can get it at home depot. a dab of that stuff will get out anything ive used it for. are you putting all your weight into turning the screw? i know i needed to push very hard when undoing mine. like i said above though u might have to drill them out

Yeah, it's in and awkward spot to move in the first place, but the impact drill is going to put out a lot more torque then my hands will, and they still started to strip. Figures besides my broken seats this is the last thing to remove.

i would hold off on the impact drill/wrench. is there any way you can get a hold of an impact DRIVER it is a device you hit with a hammer that can shock stuck bolts loose. i also have used this on my handles
