Default T-iv atf

I'm doing a temporary semi-trans job right now (dropping pan, changing filter - I actually already put the pan on, everything is ready to go except havent added fluid cuz I'm letting the gasket sealant cure

But here's the thing, I go to the Toyota dealership today, I'm like "I need 3 quarts T-IV for my 92 sc400" and he's like keep on insisting "no, you don't want to do that, you don't want that, you have an older car, you need Dex II"

I'm like "uhhh I'm pretty sure I want T-IV for my 92 sc400" he just keep s shaking his head, finally rings me up, gives me that "don't come crying to me when your trans screws up cuz wrong fluid" look on his face

I swear i walked out of there with my head on backwards, what was he talking about? I told him my 92 sc400 takes T-IV, he just thinks he knows everything, wut is going on over there???

.............my 92 sc400 takes T-IV.........right?

may i ask did you go to toyota or to Lexus? because toyota techs arent lexus techs..
toyota parts guys are not lexus parts guys - so theres going to be a huge gap in knowledge.. but you are 100% correct

If you go to any dealership, only about 1/5 of the staff actually know what the hell they're talking about.

i went to toyota, no lexus dealer by my place. yeah he wasnt trained good iguess but really, how much do you need to know to be a salesman? anyawys he was probably decently knowledgable about toyota so i aint got a beef with him but that little outing of mine was confusing for a sec

Yes, yes, a salesman is not a mechanic

It'll be like, "what, you tryin' to mug me!?" Ham-boning! Your post made me think about the Regular Show. But yeah that woulda been fun, defend the crown of Lexus, but no he was an old fopper, I'll leave the poor guy alone, he's just for Toyota anyways

Look on your dipstick near the bottom. It will tell you exactly what you need. Or look in your manual.
