Second opinion please!
I need a second opinion. i have made several posts on this subject with my 93 sc400 with 150k miles. Sometimes (most of the time) i can give the car some gas and when i put it to the floor it barely speeds up. I know it shouldn't be like this simply because i'm not retarted and I can tell it should be going faster.
Anyways i was talking to this guy and he really liked my car etc etc and asked if i have had any problems and i told him that i had to replace the radiator a while back and the car seems to be really sluggish sometimes. He was supprised and all about my mileage and the shortage of problems and said he had the same problem on his car at a lower milelage (american car<cough>) and he was about to replace his injectors. A friend told him to replace his oxgen sensor and he did and the problem went away....
Is this possibly the problem for on my car? Sorry for the long post. I appreciate anyone's help!
thanks,
neal

I am by no means an expert but is the tranny kicking down to a lower gear when you floor it or does it just try to pull in the gear that its in. The reason I ask is a friend of mine has an auto supra which I'm told is almost the same tranny and he had the same type of problem of no power when he gunned it. Turned out to be a selenoid valve in the tranny. Once replaced his car jumped like usuall.
1. Your torque converter is sticking in lockup mode.
2. one of the clutches in the transmission is at EOL.
3. The hydraulic pump in the transmission is EOL and is not putting out enough pressure to fully engage the clutches.
4. The "button" switch under the gas pedal isn't telling the system (engine ECU) you are at WOT.
EOL - end-of-life.
WOT - wide open throttle.

oh man i don't like the way that eol stuff sounds...lol
Thanks guys i appreciate it i'll check these things out.
ali sc4- yes thats exactly correct the car dosn't down shift to give it kick it just bogs in the same gear. i think i'll check that our first. Any idea on the cost of that?

Neal, is this happening when you gun it from 0 or when moving through traffic? My sc4 feels sluggish when say, I slow down to 15-20mph to take a turn, then gun it to get back up to speed. The car stays in 2nd gear at low RPM's (and doesn't downshift) and so it takes a little while to get it back up to speed. Should the tranny be downshifting into 1st gear at this point, or is this normal? My car is perfectly fine when gunning it from a red light; it'll go right through 1st, 2nd, etc without any sluggishness. BTW this is with ECT Power mode and O/D off.
