So I found out the hard way that the Lexus word emblem has holes behind it, but does anyone know if the SC400 emblem has holes behind it? It looked like some of the earlier models that had it in the middle did not, but I have a 98, so it's on the upper right hand side. I have tried peeling it back a little, but no success in determining if it has mounting holes behind it. any help would be appreciated.

No there are no holes on that one. Just the Lexus on the left and the L in the middle have holes.

I wanted to shave the lexus name off too so it's just the "L" emblem in the middle, but i don't know what to do with the holes. I know some people have a body shop fill them up, but at this moment, that's more work than i want to do right now.

Paint them all gloss black. Thats what I did with mine. Don't feel like paying to have the trunk shaved and painted right now.

What?

MIG weld the holes shut, so they don't rust. This would take all of 5 minutes.

Then body filler over the sanded down weld, sand, prime and paint. That would take 15 minutes, It's easy.

If you guys would search and learn about welding, you could save serious cash.

Whatever you do, don't be a hack. This is a Lexus, treat it with some respect.

I'm pretty sure there are holes behind the SC300 and SC400 badges on the 92-96 bumpers.

I know, he has a 98. 97+ doesn't have holes behind that badge.

This was his the OP's quote. I want to make sure no one gets bad information. He mentions that some of the earlier models that have an SC300 or SC400 badge in the middle attached to the lower bumper did not have holes. As we all know, they do have holes.

I understand he has a '98, I just don't want to hear someone with a '92-96 bumper peeling off their badge thinking there aren't any holes behind them and bishing about this thread.

Don't worry, I won't be a hack. As far as the welding goes though, I myself don't own a welder, and haven't ever been a fan of spot painting, I don't feel it looks right.

The emblems are gold right now, and I like the contrast so I'm going to keep them gold. The car itself is white.
