Try wet sanding them with 2000 grit. This will remove the yellow OEM coating. Then use a wool pad and some cutting compound, then change pads to a foam or cotton pad.. Use some polishing compound and then go back with some carnuba wax. Go and be happy!
Something that hasn't been mentioned yet,
YES, wetsanding will help relevel your lens by removing any imperfections such as medium and light scratches. Wet sanding will also remove any oxidation or haze. Wet sanding will also remove the factory applied UV coating (if there is any left)... if the headlights are completely yellow, odds are, the UV coating is long gone anyways.
After you wetsand the lens, follow up with a compound and a finishing polish (with a foam polishing pad), you ABSOLUTELY need to re-apply some form of UV clearcoat back onto the lens. If you don't, all your hard work will be wasted because without some sort of permanent protection (paint sealants are a joke...carnauba wax is a MUCH bigger joke in this regard), the lens will be exposed to all the elements and within about 2-4 months max it will yellow up again.
Point is, apply a UV clearcoat after you are finished buffing.
