turbocharging SC300 options
What would be better: 1. turbocharging stock SC300 engine and upgrading tranny or 2. replace with Supra engine and tranny. Looking for low 12 sec 1/4 mile and 0-60 in low 4 sec. What would be the costs with labor?
let me beat someone to this...

FLex,
I would think that if your engine is in decent shape and you are like most people, value conscious. Then option #1 is the way to go. For $6500 or so...you are done. Supra TT swap is probably double that or more.

You would get more HP out of turbo'n your stock engine than you would if you swapped in a supra TT engine. Plus, it is around 7.5k for a complete turbo setup for the 2jz-ge and you would probibly spend around 12k for a 2jz-gte and tranny. Not to mention you need the Supra ECU and other things. You can make around 450rwhp on pump gas and in the 500's on race gas on the sc300 engine. The supra engine will probibly turn out around 420rwhp with some tuning and uping the boost. This is on stock turbo's though....if you are looking for huge hp #' then you can always dump ANOTHER 10k and upgrade the turbo's.
Where are you getting your prices from
you can get a motor complete for about $3500.00with the auto drive shaft and rear end $700.00 wiring $1000.00 if you are not handy with tools .
This looks like$5200.00 to me now if you get greedyyou can spend lots more, i personally am going the swap route as my car will converted to stick.

Anyway to get a "friends and family" ClubLexus deal with your importer friend for a Supra engine and tranny? I just had to ask.

not a good basis to start off of; might as well spend the same or similar money for a bigger badder US version

buy a toyomoto turbo kit for your car and be happy...on a stage 2 i went 11.90@115 on pump gas and good tires...you dont need the swap...and the swap needs alot of little parts that really add up fast....little crap like moving the power steering resivior...and alot of other little things....just turbo your motor and have a 400+ rwhp car that you can drive everyday...toyomoto can get you where you want for the right cash...if you have questions feel free to email me
