Guys, it’s time to break open the piggy bank, sell blood, or get a paper route. The Precision Industries torque converter is available at a great price NOW! This is the best performance mod available for under $3-4K. Improve your 0-60 and ¼ times by a half second. That might be enough to dust that car or cars that you’ve not been able to hang with. You’re looking at $859 (shipping included) and $4-500 to install. No, it ain’t cheap but NOTHING else will give you a half-second improvement for $12-1400 (NOS excepted). In case you’re unsure about whether it’s really worth it – following are some comments by other members:
“It's a good modification - probably the best "bang for your buck"! Enjoy!!” – Mean Gene
“You'll just about shoot yourself in the head for not doing it sooner.” And “After having it installed, the car is a whole new car now, and I would recommend that everyone do this mod”.– Keith13b
”I had the opportunity last weekend to pull off the line with another member with SRT intake, but no TC and I pulled away from him pretty hard off the line. On the highway we were dead even.” – DaveGS4
“now the best mods to go with without going F/I would be a torque converter, although it wont add any more HP to your car, it will put more power to the ground and probably knock 1/2 a second of your 0-60 and 1/4 mile” – biggie27
“The TC I have will knock 1/2 seconds off your 0-60 time. Drivability is the same, no maintenance, most bang for the buck.” And ““The torque converter STILL amazes me after 2 years of having it how much advantage it gives.” – Anthracite SC
“We got the Dragon torque converter and it works great! It jumps every time when we step on the pedal! And yeah Anthracite SC is right, it should knock off about 1/2 sec off your 0-60 time.” – ACleanSC4
“I would just get the TC and you will jump him off the line real bad! That is probably the best bang for the buck!” - GS400_PUSHER
“Were you racing the SC model or the base model? In any event, I agree that getting a TC will be the best mod for the $$$.” – LXOGOOD
“If you wanna stay quiet, the best first mod, and bang for the buck mod, is a SRT / Precision Industries higher stall torque converter.” – Dex
“Also off the line, if you punch it, it will jump out of the hole faster, develop rpm faster. You may even be able to roast the tires from a standing start without power braking depending on traction and the converter.” – SC300T
“Torque converter is a must have for the SC400. Our off the line performance is pathetic at best, and this is a very good fix. If you read the racing stories forum, someone's SC400 (name escapes me at the moment) held it's own in 0-60 acceleration with a GS400. Pretty impressive I think. This will likely be my next major mod.” – lex400sc
“Between the two mods, the TC makes the biggest difference at low end. I have both - TC definitely wins.”
I’ve already ordered mine – I just wanna make sure that we have enough for the group buy – just go to the Group Buy section of the Classified section.

Didn't you switch to a GS a while back? I moved back to Boston from Plano. Man I forgot how bad the roads suck up here. I miss Dallas and I miss having Davenport so close by. Missed the first davenport meet by like a week. I did get to see their new shop in Plano before I left though. Sweet setup. Craig did a bunch of work on my last SC, the 94. Say hi to Jimmy and the crew for me. Also my freind, Mike aka Blanco, is on the seen down there now. He is driving a champain GS.

Hey James – yeah, sold the SC4 (still have a soft spot in my heart for her). In fact, my PERFECT car would have been my old Garnet Red SC body with my current GS4 engine and a 6-speed tranny.
You back in Boston permanently? I like visiting Boston, but I’d rather live in Dallas.
Agree with your opinion of Davenport – they’re a good group of guys, very knowledgeable, and reasonably priced (an unpaid commercial). Craig installed my Torquemaster plugs a few weeks ago. And I’ll tell them hello for you – they’re going to install my torque converter as soon as it comes in.

“Add a Precision Industries torque converter and I would not be surprised if you are in mid to low 5s.” – Hermosa
Remember to post what other people say in context. By the way you quoted me it seems as though I was claiming that with just a TC you would be getting those results. The actual post referred to a number of mods in addition to the TC for this result.“Add a Precision Industries torque converter and I would not be surprised if you are in mid to low 5s.” – Hermosa
The TC is probably good for .5 seconds but that entirely depends on how you launch. I can launch very well on a mildly modified SC400 and have gotten a 40ft stripe on the ground with just an intake and ecu. Note how I said stripe since we have an open differential.
It never occurred to me that anyone could interpret the quote as indicating that the tc alone would result in a 5 sec 0-60 time. If if were standing alone, perhaps - but in with the others, I doubt that anyone would. Sorry I qouted you.

then a TC (for automatic cars)
