Possible Project?
Still searching for the right project for my SC300...and I come across this ad on Craiglist.
http://atlanta.craigslist.org/nat/cto/2331186964.html
I've called the owner of the vehicle...and what needs to be completed is the piggy tail for the harness and complete the exhaust, which is running the stock exhaust from the cat from the axleback.
Owner said car doesn't start, obviously, and will need to be towed.
Of course I have my reservations because of that simple fact. don't want to drop a few grand on a car and realize there's going to be work/money just to get the damn thing started, when I could just buy another SC300 and get a 1JZ with all the fixins' myself and know the work gets done properly.
I know these threads get posted up every 5 minutes, but I figured I'd get a few opinions here and there before I decide to pull the trigger on anything.

Buying a car that doesn't start is one thing, buying a car that doesn't start with a swapped drive-train is another thing.
Like you said, you don't want to buy a non-running car and throw money at it tracking electrical issues. You're better off buying a car that you know runs.

I'm looking to sell my SC300 here in GA, it's got a 1.4mm headgasket already installed, just needs to have a kit installed and it will be a beast. I was going to put it on craigslist but I'd rather not sell it to someone who isn't looking to build it or enjoy it for what it is.
