thanks for the pointers, but I know that the coolant sensors are intact (my buddy told me to check that as well). I also used a noid light, but it was for GM specs not sure if it will work out fine but I tried it anyway (fit the pins in to make contact) and I didn't see any light. Checked for voltage with ignition on and I have power to injectors.

I'm going to look more into the TPS sensor since that's what I'm told the error code 41 means. As long as the Vpro throws the same codes as the stock ECU?

It's hard to find the pinouts for the TPS sensors on the ECM side. Can anyone give me any pointers?

Well I guess I want to clarify if the TPS can prevent the car to start with the problems I've stated above?

To follow the diagram I will need to remove the throttle body and therefore purchase a new gasket, which I don't want to do if I don't have to. I tried to ohm test the sensor but it's a PITA to get at and properly test it when it's still attached to the intake manifold!

if the tps is a 3 wire you should have 5 volts on one pin ground on another and i beleive the sense wire should read ol or some resistcnce.

does your stand alone have 12v going to it? is the ground for the ecu tight/ caroded?

thoes noid lights as far as i konw there are 2 stles of injectors high impedance and low impedance grab the correct noid light for the car autozone rents them for free. if that doesent blink AND your not getting spark theres a good chance its a computer problem or maybe a problem with the crank sensor wire or something similar

i have heard of ignition switches going bad and doing this also car would crank but would get no spark/fuel

OK, the TPS will not prevent the car from starting. So that's not the issue and I'm sure it's fine.

Moving on, I found out that I have the first version of the HKS Vpro 3.14. An error code 41 with this model is a problem with the twin injector adapter connection.

What is this? Can anyone give me any help with what to check? Is this why the car isn't starting?

really all of this troubleshooting is irrelevant when you have an aftermarket EMS.

you need help from someone that knows what's going on with that HKS vpro.

or you need to at least be able to hook your laptop up to it so you can see what's going on.

Very true, but there should be things I can do to troubleshoot?

Anyway, I tried starting the car on the stock ECU and disconnected the VPro, it started!! Now I'm thinking I may have to send the Vpro back to HKS Japan to get it sorted out...

Thanks, it was a bit of relief but I still have the same issue. After it ran for a few seconds it shut off. Then I couldn't start it again.

Also, I guess I should note that the stock ECU is still in place and the V pro is piggybacking off it. That would change things a bit I would think.

I'm going to check a few more things to see what's going on exactly.

Standalone isn't necessarily that big of a pain, IF you know what you're doing. The unit may be ok, but your base settings could be incorrect making the car unable to start and run. I'd search online or around in your area for someone familiar with the HKS set up - the fix may be easier than you think. Glad you got it started on the stock ECU.

Default car won’t start, cranks but won’t fire

hey guys any help would be great, car will crank but won’t start, fuel pump doesn’t get power when i bypass it or it’s original setup, but when i give it straight 12v power it works? also there’s a red and white wire cut out of the ecu with a pink fuse box, anyone know where that goes and what it does? i’ve changed ecu to see if that was problem but still won’t start, igniters get power and coils don’t and there’s no spark 1991 v8 soarer sc400
