i searched and came up with some idea's what might be wrong with my ccu.

first it was the right side that would look blackish while the rest lit up now the drivers side does it and the center is still bright. so is the lcd going out or is it another issue? everything else works perfect

 

Either your bulbs are going out or your LCD screen is "Bleeding" which is caused by prolonged exposure to direct sunlight and possibly heat...One preventive measure is to cover/protect the Climate Control's LCD screen with a notebook or something when you park it.

Tap your LCD screen a few times while it's on and see if you can get light to come back on.
