i have a problem with mine (triggering the EFI relay to stay on 24/7) and i need to replace it, but of course the new ECU won't be matched to my existing electronic KEYS.
Alldata shows only the procedure that involves the Lexus programming tool, which i don't have.
i saw a thread in which someone posted a procedure to program new KEYS to match your ECU, but do you do the same thing to reprogram the ECU to match the keys?
Have you actually opened it up and looked for failed components? Maybe you can just replace a failed cap or resistor or something and be on your way again.
are you sure they are removable on 98+?
i don't think you are sure.
Yea. Im not. But I just looked at a 97 yesterday and there is an EPROM on the EMS ECU main board.
So the 98 should be too. If they are not oh well. You should at least open it up and look.
What I am saying is.. IF your certain its on the EMS ECU where the information is even stored? If so it MAY be the EPROM because it's the only EPROM (progammable chip) on there. So you can just get another one here on CL and swap chips. But like Stock said your EMS might just have a blown cap or something.
i removed the ECU main circuit board from its case. there is no removable EPROM chip. i could also find no blown caps or anything that looked burnt on the circuit board.
the 98+ ECUs are totally different than the 97 and earlier.
